No School Nature Camp: Way of the Owl
Way of the Owl is the Learning Pathway that focuses on our understanding of other animals. The owl is a highly aware animal and is often used as a symbol of wisdom. Kids will be exploring all of the great elements of animal study in Way of the Owl camp. Since we don’t always get to see wild animals up close, we will be studying the traces that they leave behind. We will be learning about how to identify and follow footprints. We will also explore how tracking extends beyond footprints to signs on plants and other parts of the environment. Students will also begin to learn about the “concentric rings” of nature that radiate out from anything that is moving in the woods. The birds and squirrels have much to teach us about approaching danger.
