Stalking the Summer Harvest

Stalking the Summer Harvest

The fields, forests, and hills are bursting with nature’s bounty! Come exploring with us as we gather wild greens and berries. Returning from our harvest we will learn to make delicious jams and other wild foods creations. Instructors will focus on how to safely identify wild plants and practice safe and sustainable harvesting. Eat to your heart’s content and become a caretaker and steward of our environment. All campers will bring home jars of jam for their families.

Students will:

  • Harvest berries
  • Make jam to take home
  • Learn to safely identify wild edible plants (and eat them!)
  • Use wild medicinal herbs safely (and learn the principles of wildcrafting)
  • Make hand-cranked ice cream
  • 6-12 year old groups will go fishing (rods and reels provided)
  • Everyone will explore the wilds of Mount Pisgah Arboretum!

Registration requires purchase of a one year family membership to Mount Pisgah Arboretum (one per family) which provides:

  • Annual Lane County Parks Pass (park for free at all Lane County Parks)
  • Regular Newsletters from the Arboretum
  • Free admission to the Mushroom Festival and Wildflower Festival
  • Free admission to the Arboretum’s guided walks and discounts on workshops
  • Free or reduced admission to 250 other gardens and arboretums, through the American Horticultural Society
